Jeff and Michelle Croteau’s Own Six-Week Challenge Results in A Goal to Help Others

While some couples find barriers to starting a new life venture, husband and wife team Jeff and Michelle Croteau decided to turn what started as their own Six-Week Challenge at The Camp Transformation Center to lose weight to help others reach their own fitness goals by becoming owners of the franchise.

For the Croteaus, The Camp is a low-investment fitness franchise and a simple business to manage. Having the franchisor handle lead generation for franchisees removes the most difficult piece of gym ownership. Franchisees get substantial numbers of interested customers and spend time signing people up rather than marketing and advertising.

In 2014, the couple brought The Camp Transformation Center High Desert to Michelle’s hometown of Hesperia, California. Just this past November, after three years on Lemon Street, the couple opened the doors to their new High Desert facility on Eucalyptus Street

“My husband and I had both lost over 20 pounds at The Camp and we fell in love with the community of people and everything they were doing,” says Michelle Croteau, one of The Camp’s first franchisees who, with her husband, now owns three facilities in California and Texas. “I was in school to be a physician’s assistant and one night I looked at my husband and I said ‘You’re going to think I’m crazy, but I think I want to open a Camp.’ And he said, ‘I’ve been thinking the exact same thing.’”

Making it a true family affair, in 2015 Jeff invited his brother, Jeremy to take the Six-Week Weight Loss Challenge. After successfully completing the challenge and embracing everything about The Camp, Jeremy was hooked. Now, Jeremy and his wife Angela Croteau-Worley operate their own facility in Richardson, TX.

Knowing exactly what it’s like to participate in The Camp’s signature Six-Week Weight Loss Challenge, Michelle Croteau has a special place in her heart for the members of her Camp locations.

“They want to know how much you care,” she says. “When people are going through the challenges of weight loss, it’s a very emotional thing for them. It’s one of the hardest things you can do. And so it is my job, and my husband’s job, to make sure people feel like family, that people don’t just walk into a gym and feel like they’re just another number.”
